A timeline of SomosVC's major milestones.
2019
Nine Latino/a venture capital professionals came together, recognizing shared challenges in the industry and the need for change. United by a vision to expand opportunities and shape the next generation of investors, they set out to build a stronger pipeline of high-potential talent in venture capital.
Founding Board members
2020
SomosVC (formerly known as LatinxVC) was founded to expand access to high-growth careers in venture capital. SomosVC launched as a community to connect and support emerging talent in the industry.

2021
With the support of Fenwick & West LLP and founding sponsor Silicon Valley Bank, SomosVC officially incorporated and introduced key initiatives, such as the Fellowship Program, to create direct pathways into venture capital for high-potential professionals.

Through community-building, industry partnerships, and the launch of a structured Mentorship Program, SomosVC provided high-performing investors with the tools and networks needed to accelerate their careers.

SomosVC also expanded its impact by equipping fund managers with a platform to unlock access to capital via the launch of the annual Emerging Manager Showcase.

2022
SomosVC launched its first Annual Summit, a gathering of Latino/a investors + allies, fund managers, andindustry leaders to expand access, drive investment, and shape the future ofventure capital.

2023
SomosVC introduced the Avanza Summit, an exclusive gathering designed for pre-partner investors. It also officially changed its name to SomosVC, "we are VC."

SomosVC Seeks To Boost Latine VCs With The Help Of Silicon Valley Bank

Nonprofit LatinxVC released a recent report finding that only 2 percent of partner-level investment professionals are Latino or Latina although 19 percent of the U.S. population is Hispanic, as reported by the Pew Research Center. And 86 percent of institutional VCs have zero Latinx investment team members.
